Friedman: “You know another name, it’s not as big of a name, but a few people have told me that I think this is a player that a few teams would like to see, what is his ceiling, what is his role going to be in the NHL? That’s Steph Halliday out of Ottawa.

He, he is 23 years old. He just got a call. Didn’t play much. They are chasing the game. I think he only had seven minutes Thursday night. But you know, Halliday is a man. He, he was selected with the 104th overall pick in 2022. He went to Ohio State University. He played there for a few years.

Last year was his first professional year. He turned pro after the 2023-24 season and played 7 playoff games for Belleville, scoring 9 points. Last year, he scored 19 goals and 51 points. This year, he has 18 assists and one goal in 17 games. He had one assist in five games with the Senators.

Kyle Bukauskas: “Nice hands, too.”

Friedman: “Good hands. You’ve seen them more than I have, so I’ll take your word for it. I just heard, like, you look at Ottawa, they’ve been in center for a long time. Like, they signed some guys that can play center for quite a while.”

I just heard this guy is going to be more consistent in the NHL. I think people are trying to figure it out and watch him and ask him, “How high can he hit?” So that’s an interesting place to be, too. “
