Martín Pérez missed most of the 2025 season

Left-handed white socks Martín Pérez On the injured list, his throwing elbow was inflamed and didn't seem to come back anytime soon. ESPN's Jesse Rogers reported that the South Claw didn't require Tommy John's surgery, but could throw again in September regardless of his season.
The lefty left off Friday's game after just three innings, and the next day, Sox placed him in the 15-day IL. The club has not provided any updates on how long they expect him to fail Bobby Dalbec Go to the roster. It at least shows that they didn't expect him to come back in a few months, but now it looks like he will be longer than that and may not be back this year.
This is obviously unfortunate for Pérez and Sox. Both sides agreed to a one-year offseason contract. With Sox losing 121 games last year, the plan is probably to have Pérez in rotation as a steady veteran for at least a few months. If he performs well in July, he will be traded to promising competitors, which gives him a chance to play meaningful games, and Sox will add young talent to help their rebuild.
All are not on the table now. Perez has only played four games before landing on the shelves and he may not have a chance to join. Even if he did do it in September, it would only give him a chance to start one or two. In this case, Sox may prefer passing the ball to a young pitcher they want to evaluate before the winter starts.
Currently, the rotation on the south side includes Sean Burke,,,,, Jonathan Cannon,,,,, Davis Martin and Shane Smith. At some point, a fifth starter is needed to replace Perez. Jairo Iriarte,,,,, Nick Nastrini and Irving White Everyone is in 40 and has pitched in Triple-A so far this year. Justin Dunn is a non-captain depth with major league experience and is currently in Triple-A. Some pitchers who have been recently designated as missions by other clubs include Triston McKenzie and Yoendrys Gómez and Michael Fulmer.
