Jordan Alvarez starts minor league rehabilitation mission

After more than three months on the injury list, Yordan Alvarez It looks like it is approaching the return. Astronaut manager Joe Espada told Houston Chronicle’s Matt Kawahara and other journalists that Alvarez plans to start his rehabilitation mission Tuesday at Double-A Corpus Christi. GM Dana Brown provided more details in a pre-match radio interview, saying the plan was to get Alvarez to take off on Thursday and Friday and take exam days again.

August 26 was the most likely day for Alvarez to be activated from Illinois (IL), when the Astronauts began their home series against the Rockies. Brown suggests that if Alvarez feels good after the first three doubles matches, Slugger might be activated when Astros is in Baltimore, but given that Alvarez’s recovery process is already full of stays and starts, the team will naturally move with caution.

Past problems have plagued Alvarez, so it’s somewhat creepy that his initial IL placement caused by hand inflammation in early May could be beyond the range of at least 10 days. Although Alvarez was promoted to real-time batting practice by the end of this month, things changed again when he felt the soreness of his right hand, and subsequent MRI showed a slight fracture in his right ring finger. In early July, more soreness needed to transfer to 60-day IL, and Kawahara wrote that Alvarez also received two injections to cope with inflammation.

Alvarez was able to restart his batting progress, and Espada said the three-time All-Star game faced live pitches in the Astronauts’ spring training complex yesterday. This is enough to finally get the club green light for proper rehabilitation tasks.

In 2025, it was a total loss for Alvarez, as he only hit .210/.306/.340 in his first 121 set appearance before heading to Illinois. Alvarez has a relatively slow start history, so although these numbers are much lower than his career. March and April’s 838 OPS, but there’s no doubt that he will eventually get to know his usual elite. The Astronauts can only hope that Alvarez can return without spending a lot of time to form a form, as each game is crucial in the playoffs.

Given that Houston has not had Alvarez for most of the season and has caused many other injuries to multiple major players, the Astros is still 69-55 and is notable at the first place in Al West. However, once lightable sector leads are second only to one game as the Mariners soar, while the Astros have only 14-20 in their last 34 games.
