Teams that should be sold and Ryan O’Reilly

NHL Rumors: What direction are the Calgary Flames headed?

Host: “Do you think we’ll start seeing Calgary, Vancouver, St. Louis and Nashville sell?”

Anthony DiMarco: “I 100% think St. Louis and Calgary. Vancouver are probably the most delusional organizations in the NHL because of their ownership group. You never know what to expect with Jim Rutherford, but they should sell.”

Nashville is weird. I mean, Barry Trotz was arguably the best coach in the NHL, but he became the worst general manager in the NHL. This lineup structure is so weird, you should blow that thing up in Nashville.

I do like some of their work, especially the way they draft it. I think they’re doing a good job with Milwaukee in the AHL, but I really think some of the pieces the Predators have would be attractive, especially Steven Stamkos, if you’re willing to keep him and maybe make him a $5 or $6 million player over the next two years. So I hope Nashville misses the forest for the trees, but I highly doubt it because of how much they’re trying to win here and now. “

NHLRumors.com Comments: All of these teams should be sellers. However, the Flames’ ownership, and possible directional differences within Calgary’s management board, would prevent them from becoming sellers. Do Craig Conroy and Don Maloney see eye to eye? The Vancouver Canucks just stated that they want to trade experienced UFA players to get younger. Nashville will stay the course, but St. Louis needs to move players. Prices are high and these trade rumors are more of a threat than anything.

Ryan O’Reilly’s Most Coveted Center

Daily Faceoff’s Anthony DiMarco joined Montreal’s TSN Radio and was asked if Ryan O’Reilly is on the move and if he is the most coveted center on the market?

Host: “Where’s Ryan O’Reilly?”

DiMarco: “Ryan O’Reilly, I think that’s going to be one of the biggest players. Like, look at the New Jersey Devils, he’s exactly what they need. The Montreal Canadiens, he’s exactly what they need. Because look, every team is looking for a second-line center, a third-line center. Obviously, first-line center, but like you’ve got Nazeem Kadri, you’ve got Brayden Schenn, and then you add Ryan O’Reilly.

NHL Rumors: Nashville Predators and Steven Stamkos

I mean, it’s not the best pick ever, but I think Ryan O’Reilly has that intangible as well. All three of them have won Stanley Cups, but I think Ryan O’Reilly has something, he can bring more intangibles than the other two.

I also like Brayden Schenn. Nazem Kadri will certainly play a role, but I think Ryan O’Reilly will be available, especially cap-wise, if he can play. I believe Kadri is valued at $7 million and Brayden Schenn is valued at $6 million. Ryan O’Reilly, I think his cap hit is $4.5 million.

So I think if they were willing to put Ryan O’Reilly on the floor, he would be the most coveted center on the trade market. “
