Chelsea asks Abou Malick Fofana, but Jamie Gittens still prioritizes

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea is actively working to strengthen their offensive options and asked about highly rated Belgian winger Malick Fofana before the 2025/26 season.

The 20-year-old, currently trading in the Olympics (Olympique Lyonnais), has become one of several names on the club’s shortlist as he prepares for a critical summer transfer window.

Fofana caught the attention of his pace and creativity in the last third, which made him an exciting long-term prospect.

While he is not yet a major target for West London, Chelsea’s interest shows that they intend to explore multiple options in the market as they hope to bring fresh energy and depth to a wide range of positions.

The Belgian youth international is seen as a player with significant upside potential and can be impressive if other priority goals are difficult to land.

Despite being considered Fofana, Chelsea’s main focus remains on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, the young British winger currently reported with Borussia Dortmund.

The Blues have reached a verbal agreement with players and have been in talks for weeks.

Bynoe-Gittens, who enjoyed a great sport in the Bundesliga, is seen as a versatile attack threat, able to play on either wing.

But negotiations with Dortmund have proved to be a major obstacle. The German club reportedly requested a total package of €65 million, including a bonus from England Youth International, which Chelsea is still evaluating.

Another obstacle to the game signing Gittens is Arsenal’s interest in the Dortmund Star.

While the Premier League side is still keen to reach the deal, they are reluctant to pay and are exploring alternative goals such as Fofana in case Dortmund collapses.

Whether the club finalizes the Bynoe-Gittens deal or moves for alternatives like Fofana, it’s clear that they are exploring offensive and creative options in the market.
