Bill James Cook is Buffalo’s “potential candidate”

Last season, Josh Allen and Bills won the AFC East with a score of 13-4. Buffalo is the second seed in the AFC playoffs and has participated in the conference championship.

Unfortunately, Buffalo encountered the buzz of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. For Bill RB James Cook, the 2024 season was the best year of his career. He led the NFL with 16 sprint touchdowns. Through this work, Cook is seeking an extension of Buffalo’s contract. He is reporting to the bill training camp, but it is not clear that he will be attending the live event. Ian Rapoport called Cook a “potential candidate.”

James Cook is eligible to sign a contract with the bill

Bill won a second round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and Bill chose RB James Cook from Georgia. As a rookie, Cook has 16 of their 17 games, but the game time is limited. In the 2023 sophomore campaign, Cook played in all 17 games and opened 13 games for Buffalo. He passed the ball to a career-high 237 times for a total of 1,122 yards. In addition, he has 44 catches for 445 yards and 4 catches.

In 2024, Cook passed the ball 207 times, rushing yards for 1,009 yards, and the league led by 16 times for touchdowns. He started 16 of 17 games for the bill. Cook added 32 catches for a total of 258 yards and two receiving touchdowns. The 25-year-old was also selected for two consecutive Pro Bowls. In 2025, Cook will earn $5.3 million.

The young RB knows he is worth more than $5 million per season. Additionally, RBs in the NFL will usually get one, perhaps two long-term contracts. James Cook hopes to sign a postponement with Buffalo to deliver on production for the 2024 season. Only seven Royal Banks in the NFL have an average value of $10 million or more.

These include Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, Derrick Henry, Jonathan Taylor, Alvin Kamara, Josh Jacobs and Aaron Jones. After two steady production seasons in Buffalo, Cook did enough to earn $10+ million in his new contract? The bill and Cook’s agent still have time to reach an agreement during the offseason. The camp begins on Tuesday, July 22. Cook will be present, but it is unclear how much he will be in the field. NFL insiders predict Cook will be a candidate for Buffalo.
