As expected, the Giants released local fans’ favorite QB Tommy Devito

Carrying four QBs on the 53-man NFL roster is rare. The New York Giants won’t break this trend by 2025. During the offseason, the team has enough depth in QB.
New York signed veteran QBS Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Additionally, the team traded exchange rates in 2025 to select QB Jaxson Dart. This makes the previously unsigned QB Tommy Devito a strange person. As expected, he was released by the Giants on Tuesday. Devito has proven that he has the ability to back up QB in the NFL. If he doesn’t have an autograph, expect Devito to land on the practice team in New York.

In 2023, QB Tommy Devito broke away from Illinois. Eventually, he signed with the New York Giants. Devito is a native of New Jersey and the local team gave him a chance. Tommy Devito suffered an injury and backup QB in 2023, played in nine games and ran six games for New York. He won 3-3 in six games, even three consecutive games.
In 2024, Devito had limited action against New York, starting twice and leading 0-2. The Giants made several upgrades to the QB room before the 2025 season. They added Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston through free agents. Most importantly, they drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round of Ole Miss. Unfortunately, this makes Tommy Devito the obvious fourth-string QB on the New York roster.
The giant is releasing Tommy Devito. From the summer, he’s oddly a bit that the Giants added 3 QBs.
Devito is a good story for an unsigned free agent. He proved that he could play. As a starter, he scored 3-5. There are 8 TDs and 3 INTs in 12 professional competitions.

Despite being last on the depth map, DeVito has the most experience in any QB in the Brian Daboll system. Devito will enter his third year in the New York offense. Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxon Dart are all learning a brand new offense. In 2025, Tommy Devito has performed well for the Giants.
In his final game against the team, Devito scored 17-20 in 198 yards and three passes. In two seasons, Devito proved that he is a backup QB of his ability. Will the 27-year-old get another chance in the NFL? Or is he a hit miracle for the New York Giants?
