Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the Nitto ATP Finals title match on Sunday, moving closer to his archrival in the title race.
The Italian ended his season on a high note by defeating the year-end ATP No. 1 ranked by PIF at the Inalpi Arena, winning for the second consecutive time in the season finale. It was Sinner’s 11th major title, including a Grand Slam title, trophies at the Nitto ATP Finals and ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and Olympic singles gold.
Sinner is now just three major titles behind Alcaraz. Together they captured all four major trophies this season as well as the Nitto ATP Finals crown.
The 24-year-old became the third player to win multiple Nitto ATP Finals titles on home soil. American John McEnroe won three times in New York, and German Boris Becker won twice in Frankfurt.

Sinner is the ninth person to win the year-end championship in consecutive years. This century, only Lleyton Hewitt (2001-02), Roger Federer (2003-04, 2006-07 and 2010-11) and Novak Djokovic (2012-15, 2022-23) have also accomplished the feat.
Sinner closed the gap on Alcaraz at the Nitto ATP Finals. He has lifted the trophy twice in four appearances, while Alcaraz is still chasing his first title in the prestigious tournament.
Sinner has won a major title every 5.8 games he played in his career, surpassing Andre Agassi’s winning rate every 6.1 games. Only Djokovic (3.3), Rafael Nadal (3.5), Alcaraz (3.9), Roger Federer (4.4) and Pete Sampras (4.9) have a higher win rate.
The Nitto ATP Finals champion ended his season by winning the last two major titles of 2025 at the Rolex Paris Masters and Turin. Sinner also won major titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year.
