NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, do stars need less jerseys?

Edmonton Oilers and Brett Kulak are talking
Ryan Rischorg: There have been some contract extension talks between the Edmonton Oilers and defenseman Brett Kulak, but nothing is imminent yet.
“It will be interesting to see what approach he takes. The free agent D market may be attractive for him, but his role in Edmonton is important and he has a chance to win. Great playoff performance and a great skater.”
Winnipeg Jets may begin talks with Adam Lowry
Ken Wiebe: Now that the Winnipeg Jets have re-signed forward Kyle Connor, expect extension talks with captain Adam Lowry to accelerate.

Winnipeg Jets scouting D market
fourth period: The Winnipeg Jets are believed to be in the market for a linebacker, but nothing seems imminent. Jets linebacker Dylan Samberg will be out for the next six to eight weeks with a broken wrist.
They may decide to wait and see if the team starts the season poorly and they want to make a move. If something goes wrong, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff won’t hesitate to take action as quickly as possible. The Jets currently have just under $4 million in cap space.
Auston Matthews on whether Connor McDavid’s extension will force star player to cut back on intake
Mark Masters, TSN: Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving said there are two positions that are strong, but one of them has some question marks.
“Our goaltending is strong. Our defense is strong as well. There’s probably some question marks up front where everybody fits in, finds their role, and finds chemistry.”
Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews was asked if Connor McDavid’s extension will put pressure on star players to take less money in the future?
NHL Rumors: From pending UFAs to RFAs, to past offer sheet thoughts, to market observations
“I think everyone’s situation is different,” the Maple Leafs captain said. “Obviously, every team’s situation is different. The captain is on the rise. You know, it’s hard to imagine what that’s going to be like. But, you know, at the end of the day, I think you always want to find a happy middle ground between helping the team and putting the team and yourself in a good situation. So, I think that’s how I look at it.”
