The Portland Trail Blazers announced Sunday that guard Blake Wesley fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and will be sidelined indefinitely. The Trail Blazers noted that Wesley’s recovery timetable will be determined at a later date.
Blake Wesley hurts right foot against Nuggets
Wesley injured his right foot Friday night against the Denver Nuggets. The 22-year-old left after nine minutes and did not return. He ended up with 5 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
According to ESPN reporter Shams Charania, Wesley joined the Trail Blazers in July and signed a one-year contract worth $2.38 million. He signed with Portland shortly after reaching a contract buyout with the Washington Wizards.
The 6-foot-5 Wesley was part of the trade that sent Kelly Olynyk to the San Antonio Spurs.

Wesley was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2022 draft out of Notre Dame and spent his first three seasons with the Spurs, averaging 4.3 points, 1.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 14.3 minutes in 156 games (four starts).
Last season, Wesley played 58 games as a substitute for the Spurs, averaging 11.8 minutes per game, scoring 3.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He shot 43.5% from the field and 29.3% from the three-point range.
On April 2, the Indiana native scored a season-high 15 points against Denver.
According to RealGM, Wesley was more efficient in the G League than in the NBA, shooting 45.6% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range with the Austin Spurs.
Wesley’s injury creates opportunity for Caleb Love
With Scott Henderson sidelined with a torn hamstring, Wesley played in the Trail Blazers’ first six games, averaging a career-high 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.7 steals in 16.3 minutes per game.
With Wesley now sidelined, rookie Caleb Love will likely get more playing time. The undrafted guard has played two games for Portland, averaging 9.5 minutes per game, 5.0 points, and 2.5 assists.
In a five-season NCAA career, he played 174 games (169 starts) for North Carolina and Arizona, averaging 15.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 38% shooting in 33 minutes per game.
Joining Wesley and Henderson on the bench is nine-time All-Star guard Damian Lillard, who will spend the entire 2025-26 season recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.
The Trail Blazers will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night.
