Seattle Kraken’s 2024-25 transcript: Jaden Schwartz – Hockey Writer – Seattle Kraken

The 2024-25 season has ended for Seattle Kraken for a while. Although they didn’t have a great season and didn’t win the playoffs for the second consecutive year, they ended the 2024-25 season with a final record of 35-41-6. Each player on the team contributes in a different way, some perform better than others. Let’s take a look at how Jaden Schwartz performed last season.
Schwartz and Seattle’s 2024-25 season
The 2024-25 season is Schwartz’s 14th game in the NHL. He played 81 games and was only absent on April 2 due to undisclosed injuries. This is the most games he has played for Kraken since joining the team in 2021. He recorded 49 points with 26 goals and 23 assists, the most points he has recorded with Seattle so far. Of those 26 goals, six wins and six strong goals. He won the negative phase/subtraction with negative 6. He averaged 17:53 on the ice and recorded the most shots in his career in 194.
Schwartz recorded his first goal and helped four games against the Nashville Predators on October 15. He recorded a minor assist from Oliver Bjorkstrand’s goal in the first phase before being kicked four unresolved goals by Kraken in the third phase. He recorded assists in the next two games. He had a three-game drought, but then kicked it back into the gear on October 29, recording three-pointers with a goal and two assists.
November was a slower month for Schwartz, scoring three goals and recording four assists. He scored no points in eight of the 14 games in Kraken. Last December, he made an impressive 10 of the total number of this season. In the final game of the month, Schwartz recorded another three-pointer with one goal and two assists.
Seattle played 15 games in January, and on January 18, Schwartz recorded a hat-trick against The Los Angeles Kings. He scored three of four goals, allowing Kraken to win the Kings and recorded his fifth professional hat trick.
February was slow, with Schwartz recording only two points, but he took a pace in March, where he scored eight in 15 games. He has two multiple matches, including on March 27, where he scored two goals. As the season dwindled, Schwartz scored three goals in the last six games in April to end his scoring.
Not only did Schwartz have a good season, he was nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. This marks his second nomination for the award at the Kraken organization. Since the award is a player who is awarded to sportsmanship and perseverance, it proves who Schwartz is on the ice and who is not on the ice. Although he didn’t win, nominating him is still a huge honor.
Schwartz’s Past Seasons with Seattle
Schwartz has been playing for Kraken since its inception in 2021. He signed as a free agent on July 28, 2021, just seven days after the expansion draft. He joined Vince Dunn as the two went from St. Louis to Seattle.
In his first season with Kraken, Schwartz didn’t have the start he wanted. He has only played 37 games, partly because he suffered a hand injury early this season. Therefore, he had to undergo surgery and was eliminated from December 29 to March 5. Despite missing most of the season, he still managed to score 23 points.

In the 2022-23 season, he played most of the season, played 71 games and scored 40 points. He has had the lowest efficiency/reduction throughout his career, but still managed to achieve an impressive offensive performance. In the 2023-24 season, he played 62 games and recorded 30 points. Despite scoring tens of points, his advantage/deduction is better than the 15 points below the previous season. He was in the Blues except for two seasons and he had a positive advantage/negative number. Therefore, his career Plus/Minus is still a positive 23 points.
Schwartz and Seattle’s Future
Schwartz entered the final year of his five-year contract. He will enter his 15th season and will turn 34 by the end of the 2025-26 season. It’s hard to bear, but one has to wonder if this season might be Schwartz’s last time in the league. Of course, he could choose to sign a contract with Seattle or another team at the end of the upcoming season, when he became an unrestricted free agent. Regardless of whether he will continue to play hockey after this season, Schwartz should do his best anyway.
Schwartz’s overall results
In the 2024-25 season, Schwartz won a B+. He recorded the third highest score in the team throughout the season. He fought side by side with Matty Beniers and Kaapo Kakko and proved his place there.
Even though he is getting older, Schwartz continues to prove himself a strong player. He has been consistent throughout the franchise. Hopefully he can continue this popular winning streak in the upcoming season.
