Twins put Byron Buxton on 10-day IL with thoracic inflammation

The twins announced today that they have released outfielders Byron Buxton On the 10-day injury list, the left chest cavity was inflamed. catcher Ryan JeffersActivated from the parent-child industry list, he will occupy Buxton’s position in the active roster. In additional deals, the twins officially opted for right-handed Pierson OhlContract from Triple-A. He will take a vacant position in yesterday’s roster Chris Paddack trading.
Buxton left Saturday’s game early when the team thought the left side was sore (according to Aaron Gleeman of Track and Field). His MRI revealed that he suffered from irritation from rib cartilage, manager Rocco Baldelli Described as positive news on Sunday (Per Gleeman). At the time, the team thought Buxton was everyday. Apparently, they have now decided that he will need to take more than a day off to recover. Now, he is eligible to return next Wednesday, although it is not clear how long he will be out.
The All-Star Center Outfielder is in an amazing season, the best of his career. He used 23 home runs, 17 stolen bases and 4 OAA cuts.282/.343/.561. His 3.9 Fangraphs war put him in the top 10 in the American League. Of course, for Buxton, a game at the superstar level has never been a problem. Instead, his problems remained on the scene. He dealt with injuries every season of his career. He only qualified for a batting championship once, and even then, he barely reached the end of the game, making 511 sets in 140 games in 2017. Since then, he hasn’t even exceeded 400 cricket games in a season, with only one over 100 games (102 games played in 2024). This is his second IL in 2025; he spent two weeks on a concussion before. The twins and Buxton will hope his rib injury is much worse than they initially thought, allowing him to return to the scene in time to set a new career high in plate appearances and games.
When Buxton was out, the twins had an excellent backup plan Harrison Bud – As long as he has no deals for the next two days. Bader is the midfielder who won the Golden Gloves and he also happens to enjoy the best offensive season of his career. He played most of the left game this year (marking the first time in his career, he spent more time in the corner than in the center), but he was one of the most important defensive midfielders in the last seven years. When the twins signed Bader in the offseason, they probably wished he could spend as much time in the corner, but they certainly knew he might have to fill Buxton in the center eventually.
If the twins trade before the deadline, especially if they are also separated from the utility, then the situation in Badley will be even more complicated. Willi Castro. That might leave the rookie Dashawn Keirsey Jr. Minnesota’s starting center guard in Buxton absence. Keirsey’s speed should help him put his center in the center, but he hit the ball with .354 OPS in 78 sets. This is a significant decline in Bader’s production, and it is also a massive decline in Buxton’s work. In any case, if the twins intend to continue selling by the deadline, it seems unlikely that Buxton’s injury will stop them from being separated from Bader or Castro.
