3 Carolina Hurricane Prospects Can Watch on Potential Customer Showcases – Hockey Writer – Carolina Hurricane

It’s official September, which means we can finally watch the hockey game. While this will be a preseason and prospect exhibition, hockey will still be played. Regarding the Carolina hurricane, they will be attending the sixth showcase at the Adventhealth Center Ice at Wesley Church in Florida from September 12 to 15. On August 27, Hurricane announced their roster and schedule for potential customers. They will face hosts Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Black Panthers and Nashville Predators. Which hurricane prospect should fans focus on during the three-day three-game match?

Watch three prospects

Bradly Nadeau

It’s almost a forgotten conclusion that perhaps the most anticipated prospect to watch on the showcase will be forward Bradly Nadeau. Nadeau entered his second professional season after firing with the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2024-25 with a lot of buzz around. He scored 32 goals and 58 points in 64 games, joined the short roster of U20 players, scoring 30 or more points in the AHL season. In addition, Nadeau is second in points, tied for third, and was appointed as the AHL All-Rookie team. He made a statement in his first professional season that if this format continues, time can be seen in the NHL. When it comes to rookie showcases, he will be the Hurricane’s most forward prospect and someone will get a lot of attention.

When young men like Nadeau already had elite shots, they also put forward numbers like Maine (19 goals and 64 points in 37 NCAA games) and 45 goals, as well as 113 points in 54 British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) games. He walked everywhere, and Nado knew how to score. Wolves head coach Cam Abbott will be on the bench on the Hurricanes showcase, and he knows what Nadeau has to do, which helps. If Nado saw a lot of ice time showing off his skills again, there would be no surprises. Especially if some players in the showcase will enter Hurricane training camp (released in the next few days). If there is no doubt that there is one person to watch, it is Nado.

Filip Ekberg

If there are newcomers watching on the rookie display cabinet, one of them must be Swedish striker Filip Ekberg. After scoring 16 goals and 45 points in 53 games, he will play in the Ottawa 67s in the 2025-26 Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Eckerberg is expected to draft in the third or fourth round of the 2025 NHL draft; however, he slid until the final draft pick of the Hurricanes in the 221st round of the 7th. People around the hockey world have seen the Swedes drop after leading the U18 world championship (10) and points (18). In this case, Eckerberg will be another gem that the Hurricane has found in the latter round of the draft.

Elite Prospects sees Ekberg as a brain tactician, an offensive player looking forward to the flow of the game, especially in the offensive zone. His quick hands, volatile footwork, high-end awareness and excellent speed make him a dynamic player. In addition, his playing abilities can find open and scoring lanes for his teammates, or create space for himself or even a field during a hurry. It would be fun to add a player who can read the game like Ekberg to watch it on the display cabinet.

Ekberg is probably one of those sneaky players who will surprise a large number of people and prove why his U18 world championship numbers are worth noting. Another thing fans need to pay attention to is his hockey IQ, which is underestimated. The way he can hold the puck with a stick, as well as his fast foot and the use of speed, forces the defense to bite. The combination of these attributes makes Ekberg awe-inspiring a large number of people, especially on rookie display cabinets.

Ivan Ryabkin

Another newcomer who will attract a lot of attention in the prospect display will be Russian striker Ivan Ryabkin. He was recently drafted by the Hurricanes for the 62nd time after the Muskegan Lumberjack (USHL) of the American Hockey League (USHL). The second round draft scored 19 goals and 30 points in 27 games in the USHL regular season, and in the playoffs, he added 7 goals and 16 points in 14 games. Another prospect for Ryabkin has fans watching is his strong offensive IQ and dangerous shots. Additionally, he added the central depth that hurricanes desperately needed in the organization.

While he will likely start the season with Wolves, he is the one seen as the first round pick but dropped to 62 and the Hurricane. Hurricane amateur scouts led by assistant general manager Darren Yorke have proven that players who are suitable for the system can be found anywhere in the draft. Ryabkin will be another hurricane. Combining his skills with those of Nadeau and Ekberg, there are three prospects that will attract a lot of attention from the upcoming display cabinet in a few weeks.

Either way, it will be interesting to watch these three prospects, along with the other 18 prospects of the Hurricane showcase. It’s nice to know that we’ll have some hockey to watch, especially how the summer dog era can slowly drag on. No matter what the situation is, hockey is back.
