Emma Raducanu trains with Francisco Roig and is hopeful for 2026

Emma Raducanu hopes to have a better base level in 2026 so she can dictate games more often and worry less about the quality of her opponents.
The English number one has just begun a month of pre-season training with coach Francesco Roig in Barcelona.
The 2021 U.S. Open champion has been mostly focused on the gym in London in recent weeks, with a minor bone bruise in her right foot causing her to withdraw from two exhibition matches in the United States.
The world No. 29 completed 50 matches for the first time in her career this season and now looks forward to seeing what Roig can add to her game.
“He wants me to focus more on building a better Emma Raducanu and a better fundamental level,” the 23-year-old said.
“It’s something I don’t think I’ve necessarily done before. I’ve always been more tactical, more about having to exploit their weaknesses if they have them and trying to be very crafty.
“It does work. But ideally you don’t have to think too much about other players – you can just execute your game and know you can win.
“He’s trying to build better quality, not necessarily by changing my physiological abilities, but by using better technique, better timing and better movement.
“I think it’s my goal to be able to control the game more, so I don’t necessarily have to run as much.”
