Yankees sign Jeimer Candelario

Yankees sign infielder Jeimer Candelario Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders announced a minor league deal (Conor Foley of Yes Network). Yancen Pujols reported that Candelario is expected to report to Triple-A on Monday that Candelario had multiple proposals before settling in the Yankees.

Candelario, 31, was recently released by the Reds, and in the middle of his second year with the group. It’s not hard to see why Cincinnati unplugged as he struggled with injuries during his tenure at the club and has only reached .207/.265/.394 in 134 games with the club in the past two seasons. Almost all of the works appear in the first year of the contract, as Candelario competed in just 22 games this year and hit a trivial .113/.198/.213 on 91 trips before being assigned as a mission.

Despite the dull work in recent years, Candelario is not far from running four years from 2020 to 2023, cutting a strong .254/.329/.437 in 465 games. This kind of work is best for 111’s WRC+, who enjoyed a three-point victory campaign in 2021 and 23. A revival of this level would be a godsend to the Yankees. Recently, they have lost 16 of their last 22 games, dropping them from Al East’s favorite to the Blue Jays’ three games and tied with the department’s rays.

The unanimous failure has attracted a lot of attention in the club’s infield holes. Jazz Chisholm Jr. is a solid player who can handle second base or third base as needed, but DJ Lemahieu and Oswald Peraza Fixing another position doesn’t cut it. If Candelario can prove that he is healthy and effective again, it is not difficult to imagine that he is an upgrade of the current choice of the Yankees working with Chisholm. That being said, the trade season is here, some interesting infielders Eugenio Suarez,,,,, Louis Urias,,,,, Ryan McMahonand Amed Rosario Available this summer.

At the moment, any of these players are more reliable than Candelario, and it’s not hard to imagine the Yankees feeling as if they can’t afford to roll dice on players who haven’t had a healthy and effective in the last two years. Still, he represents at least a stronger depth choice for the Yankees at least Nicky Lopez and Andrew Velasquez are already in minor league deals in the organization.
