Harrington, ambassador to champion partner ISPS Handa, is the third senior Open champion, behind Clarke and the late Christy O’Connor Jnr, twice.
“As you get older, you realize a lot of things, [including] legacy,” he said.
“You want to win on a big golf course like Sunningdale, you want to do something that stands out and wins open, and now you’ve won the Senior Open, which really gives some validation. Doing this is certainly satisfying to expand your career in that way.
“There are some great names on the trophy. I looked at the board with all the winners, and it was a deep sense of satisfaction, knowing I did both.”
After two runner-ups, including at the 2022 Senior Open, Harrington admitted that time matters as he attempts to join an exclusive club.
He added: “You’re entering this stage of your career, there’s only one window.”
“You can win seniors later, but they say the window can be up to 55-56, so you want to finish it.
“There are a few second place, and I don’t want to leave for too long.”

After 65 consecutive rounds, Harrington started with a two-shot lead, with Harrington Capital taking advantage of finding the green in the first game of the first inning, his first Eagles this week won three eagles in the game as match partner Leonard made the birdie.
Harrington talked about his game this week that he wasn’t completely relieved, but his goal match was excellent in the early stages, creating a good birdie chance in games 2, 3 and 4.
While he couldn’t take advantage of these advantages, the 53-year-old shot four shots ahead in front of the sixth-place birdie putt.
After the eighth frustrating three-boge, Harrington and Leonard took the ninth in the fourth and left four in the night quarter.
Don’t look at the rankings
Bjørn played eight consecutive pars in the group, but his circle was extended in six holes by six birdies at the turn, extending from the 9th hole to a brief lead.
“I have no idea [Bjørn] I did it, I’ve never seen the rankings. “When asked how well he knew about the motivation for Dann to build, Harrington said.
“The only time I saw the rankings was 18 years old. I asked Luo Nan. [Flood, his caddie] In 17, what is my lead, I have never seen the rankings.
“I’m totally focused on what I’m doing.”
Harrington always appears in the control innings, showing his touch on the green at 14 of the fifth shot, birdie up and down, and then clearing three again.
Although Bjørn lost the ground on the first day of the 16th, Harrington was able to drop a stroke on the 17th after finding Greenside Bunker’s goal, and Leonard also kept Bogey’s three-stroke lead.
After finding the fairway on the 18th, he gave himself a smile and ended the victory properly with two guaranteed putt pars when he encountered a crazily applaud.
Scott Hend ranked fourth in fourth after 65 times, a score of countryman Cameron Percy, who tied for Ernie Els.
