Jazz Chisholm Jr. The Double-A Somerset rehabilitation mission started tonight. This is the first game of a switch hitting the infielder since holding the right tilt pressure last month. Chisholm started the game at third base. He played five innings and won four games before a planned mid-term replacement.
Position assignment is the most interesting aspect. Neither Peraza nor Vivas offer anything offensively. Chisholm only hit .181 before his injury, but he linked seven home runs on seven home runs while painting with a strong 12% cut. Compared to Peraza/Vivas pairing, it should be a major upgrade. Lemahieu enters the first 12 games of .184/.244/.263. This is an inappropriate follow-up to last year’s .204/.269/.259 performance, but it seems likely that the Yankees will bring him more belts in the coming weeks. They obviously prefer Lemahieu to keep the right side of the infield while trying to get his bat on track.
This is the second time Chisholm has gone from second to third base during his tenure at the Yankees. He took action after the deadline deal last summer.
