Yankees Direct Carlos Carrasco – MLB Trade Rumors

Yankees announce Carlos Carrasco Unclaimed on the exemption and was completely defeated by Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The veteran Righty has plenty of service hours to turn down free agent missions, although the team offers no indication that he will do so. He was designated as a mission Tuesday.
Carrasco, 38, signed a minor league contract a few weeks before the opening of spring training. He released a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings in March. Between strong camp and wounded Gerrit Cole and Louis GillCarrasco played this season in Aaron Boone's rotation. He couldn't bring the spring success into the regular season. Carrasco surrendered nearly nine runs in 32 innings. His 17.6% strikeout rate was a few percentage points below the league average, while he gave up seven home runs (1.97 per 9).
This is more or less a match made by Carrasco's 2023-24. For much of the two years, he held rotational positions with the Metropolitan and Guardian respectively. He hasn't missed the bat and has been trying to keep the ball in the park. Carrasco merged 6.18 ERA into ERA at 41 starts. His 1.75-hour/9 rate is the highest among active pitchers with at least 200 innings in the past three seasons.
Carrasco has been the top starter for topspin for most of his career. He is now a deep arm because his speed has dropped by over 30s. He remains a solid strike and respected veteran, so the Yankees may be happy to keep him in Scranton’s organization. Brandon Leibrandt and Jack Woodford is the most experienced non-pressure-based deep starter with railroad drivers.
