Wimbledon gets British tennis record from profits of £50 million

Last year's Wimbledon Championship provided British tennis with a “record surplus” of nearly £50 million.

Last year, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) received £4.985 million in revenue, a deal that allows the All England Club (AELTC) to pass 90% of its profits to the governing body every year.

“Despite the wet title, the company has provided a record surplus for LTA,” the annual report said.

AELTC's annual financial statements ended July 2024 also showed that profit was 5.432 million pounds and its turnover rose to 406.5 million pounds.

The bonus has doubled over the past 10 years, but players have long been inciting a larger share of the revenue generated by the four Grand Slams.

Last month, the top 20 men and women players sent a letter asking for more bonuses to the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
