Wimbledon 2025: Emma Raducanu

Let us not be taken away for the time being.

Emma Raducanu on Wednesday beat 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova and entered the third round of Wimbledon.

However, supporting that win will reach the final 16 games and may need to be better demonstrated in the UK No. 1 game on Friday.

Standing beside her is Aryna Sabalenka, the world number one and overwhelming favorite for the women’s singles title.

Raducanu has made good progress to return to the top 40 of the world this season, but evidence suggests there is still a clear bay between the 22-year-old and the leading star.

Five-time main champion Iga Swiatek ended her two Grand Slam appearances this season in a brutal way – Iga Swiatek – Raducanu won just one match at the Australian Open and only three at the French Open.

Coco Gauff went on to win the Roland Garros, who also performed too much on Raducanu on Roman clay.

The challenge for Raducanu is to discover how she tests the best.

2021 U.S. Open champion Raducanu told BBC Sport before facing Sabalenka.

“I think I need to serve better. I think I need to hit better in this move. I need to do a lot of things.

“Beating a top player like Marketa, who won this game, is obviously a very positive thing for me and a very good mark.

“But I need to bridge the gap to the very, very highest.”
