Al East Notes: Red Sox, Alcantara, Cabrera, Fried, Gil, Garcia, Rodriguez

Ten consecutive victories have been launched Red Socks Back in the playoffs, almost everyone confirmed that the club will want to buy before the deal deadline. Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow As mentioned, Sox is looking for pitching options, and Masslive.com’s Sean McAdam believes that the Red Sox may particularly favor controlled pitchers, so this new pitcher can help support the club’s talent core, not just the rest of 2025. Marlin There are about two controllable potential trade candidates – Sandy Alcantara and Edward Cabrera.
While Sox still has plenty of time to ask any pitcher before the July 31 deadline, the lack of interest thus far may suggest that Breslow may have other pitchers on his target list at all. Alcantara’s past Cy Young award form makes him perhaps the most likely trade candidate in the summer, but the right-handed struggles while returning from Tommy John’s surgery. Cabrera had arbitration control in 2028, so the Rebuilding Marlins may not have seen a reason to move him temporarily, and certainly not less than a large amount of trade return. Health is also a concern for Cabrera as he left Friday’s start early due to elbow discomfort, but the list of injuries that may be avoided after preventive measures MRI resumes cleaning.
More from Al East.
- Yankees Expert The biggest explosion He left Saturday’s start after three innings with blisters on his throwing hand’s index finger, telling track and field Chris Kirschner and other journalists that it’s too early to judge that he can recover after the All-Star break and be ready for the first start after the All-Star game. Frying is no stranger to blister problems, and the unpredictable nature of the injury means at least a few days before Southpaw or clubs have any clarity about the situation. Despite his outstanding performance in his last three games, Fried ended the first half with huge numbers, including 2.43 ERA in 122 innings of his debut season in New York.
- Speaking of Yankees pitcher, Louis Gill The stress situation was stretched throughout the season, but this year’s dominant rookie of the year started a small league rehabilitation mission and started with Double-A Somerset. Gil took 36 strikes in 50 games, recording six strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings while allowing two hits and walks. This keen sign is a good sign for Gil to return to full preparation, and his long-term layoffs mean his recovery may extend into August. For the rest of the season, the Yankees rotation form Jill will be a huge boon, and the team’s trust in Jill’s health can inform New York to help pitch for New York during the deadline.
- Yimi Garcia Ankle rehabilitation tasks that may not require rehabilitation, he can rejoin Blue Bird‘The bullpen is first eligible to be activated from the 15-day injury list. (Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling is one of the members of the Toronto beat report.) Garcia has been shooting once in the Grand Slam since May 22, as he was initially eliminated for his shoulder impact, then sprained ankle and then soon needed to recover his 15-day salary on July 5. It was a busy guy in Friday’s game. Jayce’s next step.
- Light Right-handed Manuel Rodriguez After experiencing elbow soreness during his recent recovery outing, he may visit with his doctor on Monday Kevin Cash Telling Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times and other journalists. A month ago, forearm strain sent Rodriguez to the 15-day IL, Friday should be his last recovery outing, except for the reliefer’s elbow to start his move, his speed was significantly reduced. Rodriguez has been an underrated bullpen weapon for more than two seasons in Tampa, offering 2.12 ERAs in 68 innings since the 2024 season began. This is not the first time Rodriguez has dealt with a major arm issue as elbow strain has cost him much of his 2022 sports, when Rodriguez was still a member of the Cubs organization.
