Luka Doncic talks about fitness before Slovenia

The change in offseason approach
Luka Doncic hasn’t wasted his time celebrating after signing the biggest contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. After a short stop in Las Vegas, he met a boy in the backstreet performance with his teammates, and Don Sic headed to Slovenia to start preparing for Eurobasket.
Now, Doncic is involved in his conditioning issues with national team training. The all-NBA guard solved his physical transformation when speaking at Slovenian Outlet Siol.net, translated by Eurohoops.net.
“My fitness has always been a question, but I thought I was doing well before,” Doncic said. “This year we had a different attitude to things. Last summer was tough – I played until June and then jumped straight into the Olympic qualifiers. This time, I had more time and a better plan.”
Exercise routines become habits
Doncic noted that although his new training schedule was initially difficult, consistency helped him adjust.
“It wasn’t easy at first, but then we got into the habit. We’ll see how it translates into a game – I haven’t played it since the end of the NBA season and I’ve just started to fight again.”
His comments reflect similar statements he made during the media supply in Los Angeles. With conditioning improved, Doncic can operate more effectively and may avoid the mid-season fatigue that occasionally plagued him in the past.
Watching Eurobasket and NBA seasons
Doncic and Slovenia will face Germany in an exhibition match ahead of the opening of Against Poland on August 28. For Lakers head coach JJ Redick, maintaining Don Cic’s health and LeBron James’ health will be key throughout the NBA season.
If Doncic’s fitness improvement results in better stamina and reduced damage, he may take his game to another level. Everyone’s eyes were focused on Eurobasket’s performance to preview the performance of the 2025-26 NBA season.
