Wild 2024-25 transcript: Matt Boldy – Hockey Writer – Minnesota Outdoor

The NHL offseason means looking back at what is shown, and looking forward to the future, and this time we will focus on the past. As we worked hard in the final forward, it was time for the Minnesota field report card. Matt Boldy is the next striker to win and he has an interesting season.
When Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek were injured, he put a lot of pressure on his shoulders and he did his best in the situation. It’s not easy, but he does everything he can and his results this season will reflect that. We will look at his regular season performance, as well as his playoffs, and draw the overall results from his regular season.
Boldy found the way
When Kaprizov and Eriksson Ek left the roster, Boldy had a huge opportunity to step up and even though he didn’t shine immediately, he eventually found his way. After some injury issues before the season, he was able to compete in all 82 games last season. He scored 27 goals and scored 73 points in 46 goals.
Assisted and points were both Boldy’s career high, with his total goals scored only four goals from his career high of 31. He also had 51 minutes of free throw minutes, another career that might not be the best, but his 271 goal was also a new high last season. Although he was able to produce aggressively, he also used his body with 52 hits.
Defensively, his shot was impressive and he drew all the wild forwards throughout the season. He did get a lot of giveaways 84 times, but he also earned an impressive 43 gains, which once again leads the team and he should be proud of it. Hopefully he can find a way to take advantage of this scoring ability and bring it to next season.
Boldy’s playoffs are getting tight
When he found his way in the regular season, he found a way to improve further in the playoffs. Boldy scored five goals in six games, tied for Kaprizov, but he also assisted with two goals, keeping his score at 7 points, second only to Kaprizov. He helped the team against the Golden Knights in Las Vegas and gave them hope when they needed it most.
While the series doesn’t end the way they hoped, his efforts help show that they can compete and outperform the first round. He found a way to contribute offensively again, but he was also a physical shot. He threw his body about 12 times, but also blocked five shots. He even improved the giveaway because he only had one, but also had three gains.
Despite some trouble with Kaprizov’s injury, he continued to improve the game once he was gone. He still needs to figure out how to become more consistent, but he is putting the effort he needs, especially when the playoffs need it most.
Boldy’s overall results
It might have taken him some time to fully adjust, but as the season progresses, Boldy asserts that he’s on the lineup. He created a new career offensively, and he also produced new productions on defense, unlike teammate Eriksson EK, but his own version. After reviewing the stats for this season, he earned a B+. Despite his high numbers, he is not high because he may strengthen more when they need him. However, this is not lower, because he did eventually find his own path.
As for the playoffs, he won an A-. This seems high, but he ranks second on the team and makes a difference in their performance. It’s not higher because he can improve a little more, but he’s better than the regular season. If they want to dig deeper in the playoffs again, the wilderness will require his tremendous effort.

He earned a low A- for the entire season when putting the two grades together. He worked harder than before, but it was obvious that he had more to pay. He is a promising player and the field needs him to continue honing his game as he remains a key part of their future and if he can find a way to stay consistent he will prove that he is worth more.
