Wigman’s confident England player prepares for the sultry temperatures of Switzerland

England manager Sarina Wiegman insists that her players are well prepared for the soaring temperatures in Switzerland as the Lioness begins defending the women’s European title this weekend.

England held France on Saturday in Zurich with temperatures set to be in its 20s as the side of Wiegman hopes to retain their trophy in 2022 at Wembley.

But if the Netherlands won the Wiegman match and the first contestant in the Welsh Championship from the so-called “death crowd” composed by Les Bleues in 2017, it would be a challenge for her side, and the England owner would be sure the Heat would not be a problem for her players.

“We can already practice it in the first week of training camp because it’s also hot in England,” Wigman said.

“We had cold towels for the rest of the training session.

“We make sure we have hydration. Take a break and don’t keep in and out to recover and do these things to keep your body temperature low.”

Before clashing with France, a former semifinalist, Wigman also revealed that she does not intend to make an additional replacement due to the warm weather.

She added: “When we place it, we do it because there is a need for people who change the game or give everything that needs to go out, I wouldn’t think of managing the calories at the time.

“After that game, we recovered, and then we were with medicine, technology, how everyone stood out from this game, and then we went to the Netherlands for the next game.”

The Lioness plays France in Saturday’s D opener, and the match begins at 20:00 (UK time).
