The Eyes of the Golf World will be held in the UK later this year as Royal Porthush hosts the 2025 Open Championship.
Just like Shane Lowry’s previous appearance at Major’s host, British stars will bring huge opportunities for success to British stars.
The pressure on British and European players will also increase as this could be one of the final opportunities for the team announced in the 2025 Ryder Cup.
But who has been some of the outstanding British golfers so far?
Shane Lowry
Currently, the British golfer on Earth is better than Shane Lowry. In recent memory, the 2019 Open Champion has been one of the most stable champions in his professionals, advancing in 32 of his 48 matches to the highest standards in the competition.
Returning to Portrush this year will make him an outstanding opportunity for public success, as he tries to win for a second time. Lowry’s consistency puts him at the highest PGA Tour rankings as he ranks 12th overall.
The Northern Irish has played 14 games on the tour this season, missing out on layoffs only twice. He also made the top 25 ten times, earning over $6 million in prize money.
Tommy Fleetwood
In the PGA Tour, few players are as popular as Tommy Fleetwood. Southport, 34, of Merseyside, is a seven-time American Tour champion and has also won a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics.
The ten-time professional champion is often a popular choice for the Grand Slams, and many willing Fleetwood broke his debut. But despite the continued performance, he has not yet achieved the victory he deserves. Fleetwood finished second in the 2018 U.S. Open before taking the same spot at the 2019 Open.
He scored an impressive 29 advancements in 39 games and scored an impressive 8 top ten. This season, the British advanced in all 12 games on the PGA Tour, with his top 25 except for two. However, he entered the top ten only four times in 2025. Despite this, he is ranked 13th in the PGA Tour.
Justin Rose
Justin Rose is widely regarded as one of the best British players in the past 20 years. Originally born in Johannesburg, South Africa, the British won 25 professional events in his career and was the No. 1 player in the world in 2018.
Of his 25 professional wins, including 11 wins on the PGA Tour. Rose won events like the Memorial Championships and Farmers Insurance, and he had the biggest success on the U.S. Tour when he won the Pebble Beach Professional AM in 2023.
However, his biggest success to date was achieved in 2013, as he prevented Phil Mickelson and Jason Day from winning the U.S. Open. He is very close to a big run early this season, but he was beaten in the nervous playoffs of Masters Rory McIlroy.

Robert MacIntyre
There have been more progressive golfers in the PGA Tour in the UK in recent seasons than Robert MacIntyre. The 28-year-old Scotsman became a professional player in 2017 and has been on the DP World Tour regularly throughout his career.
So far, MacIntyre has accumulated five professional wins, and he is currently the 14th best in his career in the world. Last season was an age group in the Scots’ American Tour as he won two games in six weeks.
The first came in the form of the Canadian Open and then kept the nerves in the second month to win the Scottish Open. The Open was the best table that MacIntyre performed, advanced in all five games and finished in the top ten in 2019 and 2021.
Currently, he is a British golfer and, according to a bookmaker not on Gamstop, is more popular for future PGA tournaments.
The Scots advanced 13 times in his 15 matches this season, and his performances remained at a high level after finishing three top ten and six top 25 matches.
