White Sox thoroughly Penn Murfee; Bobby Dalbec elects free agent

White socks sent right-handed Penn Murfee Scott Merkin of MLB.com reported that Charlotte Triple-A. There was no previous indication that the right had been removed from the 40-man roster, but Sox apparently passed the waiver in recent days. Their 40 people fell to 39. Melkin added infielder Bobby DalbecHe also cleared his immunity, but has exercised his right to elect a free agent two days ago.

In November, Murfee, 31, was exempted in November. His White Sox tenure started with a tough start. He recorded 12 2/3 innings in 15 games, allowing 11 runs of 11.82 ERA. This is a small sample where luck may have played a role. His average hit average score was 0.390, while 67.3% of the stock ratio was unfortunate. His 3.85 Siera suggests he deserves better. But on the other hand, his 20.6% strikeout rate has dropped significantly from his previous work.

Before joining the White Sox, Murfee recorded 83 1/3 innings with the Mariners in 2022 and 2023. At that time, his ERA was 2.70 ERA, 27.9% strikeout rate and 8.5% walking rate. Unfortunately, he needed UCL surgery in June 2023, erasing the rest of that season and 2024.

After the 2023 season, the Mariners gave up on him. Even if he faces significant absence, his numbers are good enough that he bounces to the Metropolis, Braves, Astronauts and White Sox in a waiver claim. Compared to 2022, all his courts have dropped slightly this year. Perhaps this provides some explanation for the reduced strikeout rate, which in turn lacks interest in the exemption wires.

Murfee ended 2024 with a two-year and 169-day service, just three days away from three years. By spending more than the first month of the 2025 season on an active roster, he postponed the mark for the three years. He became arbitration qualification for the Super Two players in the winter, but he was unable to raise his salary very much due to his absence. He and the White Sox avoided arbitration in January and agreed to pay a salary of $780,000, well above the lowest this year's $760,000.

Since he has served for more than three years, he has the right to refuse this thorough task to support free agents. However, since he has a salary of less than five, he will have to confiscate the remaining salary to exercise this right. So he might report to Charlotte and try to get back into the roster.

Dalbec, 30, signed a minor league contract with Sox in the winter next month. He was added to the list about two weeks ago Chase Meidroth Hit the injured list, but in Josh Rojas Back from IL. He showed great strength in his career, having 47 home runs in 1,065 sets, but weakened a 36.6% strikeout rate.

Like Murphy, Dalbec served for three to five years. His deal with the White Sox reportedly paid 1.25mm in professional salary, but may not be fully guaranteed and/or pay too much in minors. Regardless of the details, Dalbec would feel comfortable walking away and heading to the open market to see if there are other opportunities there.
