White Sox announced right-handed today Sean Burke Has been selected as Triple-A Charlotte. Correct Irving White It has been recalled with corresponding actions. According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, Left-handed Martín Pérez Wednesday’s game will begin.
Burke entered the season with only 19 major league innings. He broke the camp in the season opening rotation and has remained until today. His results are usually pretty good. He appeared 24 times. Technically, only 20 of them were when he played four times out of the opening game. He has recorded 117 2/3 innings with an average running volume of 4.28. His strikeout rate of 21.1% is slightly below the average of starters this year. His walking rate is 10.3% and his speed is more than two worse than PAR.
Although his performance is usually high, there are many reasons why Sox might disappoint him. Monitoring his workload is likely to be one of them. His highest innings as a minor league is 108, back to 2022. Shoulder trouble limits him in 2023 36 2/3 innings. Last year, between the Grand Slam and minors, he reached 90 2/3.
In 2025, he has shot his own high position. Sox may have been dialing things back for him since July 2, as they didn’t let him go for more than five innings. He didn’t make four innings in the last two outings. Give him a choice to a minor to make the path forward easier.
Most importantly, Sox also recently welcomed Pérez to return from the injured list. They also chose Yoendrys Gómez He will have a lineup once he extends out among minors. The two rotation points cause Jonathan Cannon Burke is now selected.
It may not be a complete coincidence that Burke was shy enough to serve for a year. He entered the season in 20 days. By my count, he has increased by 144 days so far in 2025, bringing him to 164 days. In 172, Burke is eight days away from this line.
He has the potential to serve as a sign of September’s call and overcome the year. If he does, he will reach six years of service and free agents after 2030.
