White Sox, Brewers Exchange Aaron Civale, Andrew Vaughn

10:30 am: Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reported that brewers sent cash to the White Sox in the deal to make players’ salaries different. Civale made 8mm this year, while Vaughn made 5.85mm. He added that Milwaukee currently sees Vaughan as a first baseman and DH, and there is no plan to use him in the outfield. The brewer announced the deal, and Vaughan has been assigned to Triple-A Nashville.

9:05 AM: Brewers are trading right-handed Aarons The Dialogue Sox, according to a report by Jon Heyman of the New York Post. ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reports first baseman Andrew Vaughn Head to Milwaukee in exchange for Civale.

It was a quick turnaround after Civale asked for a deal from Milwaukee yesterday. Civale’s trade request follows the club’s decision to hit him from the rotation earlier this week to call out top pitching prospects Jacob Mosrowski. Civale, a free agent after the 2025 campaign, struggled a bit last year, but has reached 3.32 ERA since returning from the injured roster last month, and the 3.92 FIP, whose 3.92 FIP obviously wants to keep a rotation job in four starts to make himself successful in free agency this winter.

The 30-year-old’s wish was quickly approved as he now heads to the White Sox. There is no real hope of playing the playoffs next to the South, but due to the patchwork, featuring multiple rule 5 drafters, it is not difficult to see Civale as a potential upgrade for their starting rotation. While it is rare for a team to travel to the second straight 100-hit sports to get rent in the middle of the season to start pitchers, from a Chicago perspective, they will have the opportunity to transfer CIVALE to a club with a playoff desire close trade deadline.

Given the rewards they gave up, logic is especially reasonable for the White Sox. Vaughn is the third pick in the 2019 draft and is a long-term top 100 prospect, but his Major League Baseball career has so far been a disappointing one. He entered the 2025 season with a career of .253/.310/.415 (102 WRC+), at the major league level, with just one season, he hit a much better than the league average in one season. This year has become even more obvious as he was cut in 48 games of the White Sox in 2025.189/.218/.314 (44 wrc+). This is all players with at least 120 plates this year, which is the lowest player of the season, which is his -1.3 Fwar, which is all seasons, which is all seasons, which is all seasons, and all seasons have been all seasons, which is all seasons have been all seasons, and all seasons have been all seasons have been all seasons in all seasons. Sox chose him to play Triple-A Charlotte a few weeks ago, and since then he has reached .211/.328/.351 in 15 games.

It’s not a player, and the White Sox may expect a considerable prospective return this summer, and although Vaughn has maintained control for a year after the year, he currently has the obvious non-cargo candidate appearance. This certainly makes the roll of dice a very attractive option for Chicago, which certainly makes the roll of dice a very attractive option.

That being said, this doesn’t matter to the brewer. Civale is no longer suitable for deeper brewers rotation combinations, and his roster may be more suitable for other weapons than other veteran starters with zero relief rates. More importantly, Vaughan’s basic numbers paint a picture of a player whose actual performance is no different from his previous season as a league average batsman. He was never a particularly patient batsman when he walked with a career-low 3.6% cut. His strikeout rate of 22.3% is just one ticking rate higher than last year, and his 13.3% barrel rate this season is actually the best of his career, four points better than last season. Vaughn’s Terrible.217 Babip should improve over time Rhys Hoskins It makes sense this winter that it is possible to get tickets for Vaughn’s free agents.

During a shorter term, Vaughn seems likely to be a backup role for winemakers, or he may continue to be represented among minors. Vaughn has been primarily first base in his career, but Vaughn has registered nearly 1,500 innings in the outfield. He has always been a boring defender on the grass, but so has his defensive work at first base. It’s not hard to imagine Milwaukee using him as a row on the left Jack Bowles although Garrett Mitchell On the injured list, although it is also possible that he will be just supporting Hoskins and Yelich’s mission with support this year, while also giving time to play a bigger role in 2026.
