Arsenal is reportedly interested in signing Feyenoord attacker Igor Paixao during the summer transfer window.

According to the Times, they identified the Brazilian as alternative players such as Nico Williams and Leroy Sane. Both players can be expensive acquisitions, so Arsenal is looking for cheaper alternatives.

Paixao is also linked to Leeds United. They have rumors that Liverpool is keeping labels on players.

Paixao has been sensation

Paixao has performed well in the Netherlands, scoring 16 goals in the league. He also received 14 assists. He was also selected as Dutch Football Player of the Year.

There is no doubt that the 24-year-old has excellent technical attributes in the Premier League and the opportunity to join Arsenal will be difficult to refuse for him. They are one of the largest clubs in the world and they can provide him with a platform to fight for major trophys.

If Arsenal wants to do well next season, it needs higher quality and depth. They need someone who can consistently make goals and assist. Paixao certainly has impressive numbers and it remains to be seen whether the Gunner decides to take action for him.

They missed the league championships in recent seasons and Arsenal will hope to move forward next year. They need to improve offensive units to compete with top clubs. They sometimes look toothless and players like Gabriel Martinelli failed to deliver.

More local competition will be ideal, and Paixao can compete with Martinelli for the starting position. He is also likely to be able to get it with reasonable funds, and Arsenal will do a good job of securing his signature.
