Liverpool receives official offer from AC Milan for defender Joe Gomez

AC Milan has bid for Liverpool’s official defense lawyer Joe Gomez and is now negotiating between the two clubs, according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian giant has been monitoring Gomez for several weeks and after internal discussions, they made formal recommendations to ensure his services are secured in a permanent transfer.

The British defender is currently the longest Liverpool player. So far, he has made 242 appearances for the Reds in his career.

AC Milan’s defensive reinforcement plan

Milan is eager to strengthen their defensive choices ahead of a challenging season.

Injuries in recent campaigns reveal Rossoneri’s lack of depth, while Gomez’s experience at the Premier League and international level is seen as a complement to versatility, where he can serve as a centre-back as well as right and left back.

The defender was primarily reserves during his time with the Premier League Giants and now he is looking to leave Anfield to play a more prominent role elsewhere.

When Liverpool opened to the deal, Romano made it clear that Gomez was allowed to leave only when Liverpool signed Mark Gerch from Crystal Palace.

The Red Army has already proposed a £35 million bid for England International, and England International reportedly reached personal terms. However, the palace has not accepted the offer yet, held at a higher fee.

If the Guehi deal is finalized, Liverpool will be prepared to sanction Gomez’s departure as they know they will be placed in a ready-made alternative.

Until then, Gomez remained an important part of the Arne Slot team, especially given the requirements for competing on multiple fronts this season.
