Marc Guehi has decided not to renew the Crystal Palace contract

Marc Guehi’s future at Crystal Palace has fallen into new uncertainty, with reports that the England international told the club that he has no intention of renewing his contract.

The 25-year-old centre-back is now preparing to lower his final year of his trade at Selhurst Park and leaves free agents next summer.

The news came after the dramatic last day of the transfer window, where Guehi appears to be on the verge of moving his dream to Liverpool.

The Reds were eager to strengthen their backline and made a late offer, which was initially accepted by Palace Chairman Steve Parish. Guehi even completed the first phase of medical treatment, with the transaction form submitted by 7 p.m., placing the switch within contact distance.

But palace manager Oliver Glasner intervened decisively. There is little time to secure a replacement, and Glasner is understood to threaten to resign if his star defender is allowed to leave.

Faced with the risk of losing the manager and his treatment captain, the parish reversed his decision and pulled the plugin a few hours before the windows closed.

Turning around made Gu Jue angry. The defender is now feeling disappointed by the club and has decided not to extend his stay, according to the Times.

The palace may have kept him for the time being, but the long-term consequences of their decisions look increasingly bleak. Unless things change drastically, Guehi will make reservations with overseas clubs starting in January.

Liverpool can revisit Guxi’s situation in the winter window or wait until a free transfer next summer.

Meanwhile, the Palace faces the arduous prospect of losing key players without having to get a transfer fee, a situation that will put additional pressure on Glasner and the club’s hierarchy in the coming months.
