Wayne Rooney

It seems that the next generation of Rooney is already making moves.

Manchester United legend Wayne’s 15-year-old son Kai Rooney was surprised by the club’s Under-19 team (jumps for three age groups) to light up the stadium on Supercup Ni (formerly known as the Milk Cup).

The young forward is Manchester United’s under-16 under-16 in Northern Ireland, with the two goals and assists in assisting as the Reds were unbeaten in the group stage, defeating Southampton 1-0 in the Coleraine Showgrounds final.

Now, on the back of the breakthrough show, Kai has been selected as Manchester United’s U-19 squad to compete in the prestigious Mladen Ramljak Championship in Croatia, which previously featured Luka Modrić and Eduardo Camavinga.

The teenager seemed to enjoy the moment, sharing one on his hotel-set Instagram with a pool and views, with the caption: “The 19ths race was fast.”

United’s young guns have landed in Group A, and they will face academy giants Juventus, Rapid București and Dinamo Zagreb.

Of course, Kai still has a long way to go if Kai is to match his father’s legacy – Wayne still has 253 goals Manchester United’s top scorer all-time – but if any of the latest steps are to be taken, the kids get the pedigree…and the platform for success.
