Watch the photographer event at Medvedev match

There were extraordinary scenes at the U.S. Open on Sunday, when the match between 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev and Benjamin Bonzi stopped at the Frenchman’s match point.

Medvedev’s angry response was met by referee Greg Allensworth, who put Bonzi back for the first time after a photographer went to court, resulting in a six-minute delay.

“Are you a man?” Medvedev asked Alan Sworth repeatedly. “Why are you shaking? He wants to go home, guys. He doesn’t like it here. He gets paid for the game, not the hour.”

The American Tennis Association said safety guarantees photographers before revoking their certificates.

“I’m not frustrated with photographers,” Medvedev ranked 13th. “I’m upset by this decision.

“Every time there was a voice in the stands between services, never served the second time. But the referee gave him the first time. That’s what made me angry.”

The controversy exhilarated Medvedev, who won the game and won five games in 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 0-6, 0-6, 6-4 defeats.

The 29-year-old is known for his occasional volcanic temper and defines his relationship with the public population of the United States as a person of love and hate at various flashpoints.

In their first game against Feliciano Lopez, Medvedev took a towel from a dance, threw a racket in the referee after accepting the offense and was booed after seemingly lifting his finger to the arena.

“I hope that when you all go to bed tonight, I won because of you,” he said then in his stadium interview.

“The more you do, the more I will win for you.”

World 51 Bonzi will play American Marcos Giron in the second round, who ranked four in his game.

The 29-year-old never surpassed the Major’s third round but has now won his two ATP Tour meetings with Medvedev, knocking him out in the first round of the 2017 French Open.

Medvedev forgot a year and suffered a first-round exit in all three Grand Slam matches since being eliminated from the Australian Open in the second round.
