Justin Engel will make his debut at the Next Generation ATP Finals hosted by PIF and become the first German to compete in the 20 and under event.

Engel made headlines in June when he competed in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event in his hometown of Stuttgart. At 17 years and 8 months, he won his first round match on grass, becoming the second youngest player (since 1990) after Rafael Nadal to win at tour level on all three surfaces. The German won a tour-level match last year on the hard courts of Almaty and this past May on clay courts in Hamburg.

Engel then carried that momentum into a career-best performance at the ATP Challenger Tour between September and November, posting a 12-7 record in main draws according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, including his first title in Hamburg. With this win, he made history by becoming the first player born in 2007 to lift the Challenger Trophy.
