Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga prepares to sign a $7.9 million qualifying offer
On Thursday, September 4, Brooklyn’s Cam Thomas signed a one-year, $6 million eligibility offer. He was the first of four restricted free agents to sign a qualifying proposal before 2025-26.
Training camp begins within a few weeks, and the team is eager to sign their respective restricted free agents. Jonathan Kuminga still has no signature from the Warriors during the offseason. NBA insiders report that Cushinga is not valued by Golden State. He is reportedly willing to sign a one-year, $7.9 million qualified offer. Kuminga will receive no trade terms in 2025-26 and will become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the year.

The 2025 offseason has been a stalemate between Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors. Golden State has offered the 22-year-old a two-year, $45 million extension this offseason. However, insiders said the team hopes he signs the deal and then trades him soon. Golden State’s former first-round draft pick won’t let it work that way. Kuminga may not accept a two-year deal, but signs a one-year, $7.9 million eligible offer.
This will give Cushinga the power in 2025-26. He will have a no-trade clause with the Warriors. Additionally, he will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Did signing a $7.9 million qualifier in the offseason make the right decision for Kubinga? If his goal is to be with the Warriors this season and become a free agent, that is the perfect plan. Says Kuminga did sign the eligibility offer. He won’t get quite a deal for the next offseason. Golden State tried to trade Kuminga in the offseason, but there wasn’t much action around the league.
