Want to design your own golf course? This boot camp is ready for you

Bill Coore is a big name in the golf music architecture. But he wasn’t always destined to live in design. At the university of Wake Forest, he studied classics. Not the layout of the golden age. Actual classic. History and literature of ancient Greece. He plans to become a university professor.
But you know how it is. Plans are like t-shirt lenses. They took a surprising turn. Sometimes they end up in a pleasant place.
We mentioned that this is an inspiration, an opportunity, and it is an opportunity to try your On the golf course design
It is scheduled to be held at Pinehurst Resort in March, with the American Association of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) holding its second annual design boot camp. The inaugural edition of the 2024 at Erin Hills, Wisconsin was so successful that Asgca decided to ship it back.
Like the first boot camp, this year’s four-day immersive program will provide a mix of classroom learning and hands-on training for aspiring course designers and architecture enthusiasts under the guidance of renowned architects at special locations. Following lectures and discussions on industry foundations and principles, participants will head to the field work of Pinehurst Sandmines, adjacent to Pinehurst No. 10, where they will have the opportunity to route layout and design vulnerabilities that are suitable for the landscape.
With work, there will be games, and in the second round of the Pinehurst, the cradle is accompanied by the coach of the boot camp.
These lecturers – Jan Bel Jan, Jeff Blume, Jeff Brauer, Bruce Charlton, Steve Forrest, Mike Hurdzan, Tom Marzolf and Damian Pascuzzo – are past ASGCA presidents who collectively designed hundreds of courses around the world. Consider this a partner’s architecture fan journey and have plenty of time to talk to outstanding people in the field.
As a bonus, the course will include a special guest of former Classic Major Bill Coore, who will lead participants on his live tour of the Pinehurst No. 11 project, which is currently being built in Salmon Wine and opens in late 2027.
The camp will be held from March 9 to 13, 2026. The fee per person is $20,000 and is eligible for a charitable tax relief from a $15,000 charitable tax relief to the ASGCA Foundation, which supports programs and organizations that enhance municipal curriculum, as well as programs aimed at developing the next generation of industry leaders. Registration fees cover materials and supplies; accommodation in Holly Inn in Pinehurst village; food and beverages; caddies; rewards; special gifts and souvenirs. Participation restrictions were limited to 16 participants.
