Tottenham, along with Chelsea, reportedly showed interest in Aston Villa’s ambitious potential transfer measures against midfielder Morgan Rodgers.
The talented 23-year-old did catch the attention of the Premier League last season, contributing eight goals and ten assists in 37 league games.
Rodgers also showed what he could do in Villa’s Champions League, and it was obvious that he was a man who had no doubt as he stepped out of a bigger club.
According to Give Me Sports, both the Spurs and Chelsea are keen on Rodgers, and their costs may be as high as £100 million.
The England internationals have also been the top targets with Suns’ Chelsea, but now it seems they can face Tottenham Hotspur’s competition.
Morgan Rogers’ transfer becomes even more important for Tottenham
The Spurs really need to hit the midfield signing right now after James Maddison was injured.
As Tottenham’s official website confirmed, Maddison appears to be facing months of ACL damage.
Anyway, Rodgers could be said to be an upgrade to Madison, but THFC is desperate for cover in that area of their team now.
Meanwhile, it may be difficult to see the North Londoner fork towards one player.
What’s next for Rodgers in the Spurs and Chelsea link?
Chelsea certainly won’t sign when Rogers signs Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho deal.
The Blues have also signed Jamie Gittens and Estevao Williams, a new offensive midfielder signing this summer, so it’s unclear how to put Rogers in.
If Tottenham decides to increase interest in former Middlesbrough teenagers, that might be good news for them.
Rodgers will certainly be drawn to the opportunity to move to London, and both clubs can provide him with Champions League football.
