Two-time Champions League champion Mourinho will face another qualifying match in the game after losing to a 91st minute goal in the same stage of his second straight season.
Former Manchester United loan signed Sofyan Amrabat, which appeared to win Mourinho’s Fenerbahce 1-1 at Feyenoord and tied with an 86-minute strike just to get Anis Hadj-Moussa’s Deft extra Time Header to win Robin Van Persie’s squad victory.
In Mourinho’s first campaign in 2024/25, the Turkish club equalized 2-1 at Lille in the 91st minute of the first leg and then added an extra time of 3-2 to the home game, despite their last time reaching the UEFA European League.

Feyenoord vs Fenerbahce: Champions League Drama
After Dutch midfielder Quinten Timber started scoring in the 19th minute at De Kuip, Feyenoord was fined in advance and opened the free throw area to spin through visiting defense attorney Mert Muldur.
Irfan Can Can Kahveci excluded fenerbache from offside in the 41st minute, on Tuesday (20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT) in Istanbul’s return leg.

Mourinho described the tie beforehand as “50-50” and “a good challenge.” “The gap between the two games is less than a week, so I see even opportunities.”

Mourinho praises Van Perside
Two-time Premier League top scorer Van Persie has two spells, eight-year-old Feyenoord joins Arsenal, three with Manchester United and three with Fenerbahce, although the 2012/13 British champion with United was never managed by Mourinho.
“Robin is a great striker,” Mourinho said. “We’ve spent many years in the Premier League. I know him better than most people.”

Van Persie, 42, started his management career at Heerenveen at the start of last season and joined Feyenoord in February, where his assistants include Rene Hake, who is Erik Ten Hag, before the Dutch was fired by United in October last year.
“He is the new generation of managers in the young,” Mourinho said of the former Dutch international. “Now, senior players want to be managers and prepare for it.
“Robin… is in a big club, showing his potential here. I hope he can succeed. I hope he can succeed for the rest of the season.”

When will the Champions League draw?
The draw will be held on Thursday, August 28 – the day after the playoff tie ends to determine the final team qualification.
The time of the lottery has not been confirmed in early August.
Champions League format
From the previous group stage format to the change in 2023/24, each team now plays eight games in the league stage, with all teams facing different opponents.
Four of these matches will be at home, and four matches will be determined on four seeders based on rankings.
The team will play two opponents in each pot – one against each pot at home, one opponent. The results determine the overall ranking of an alliance.
The top eight on the table automatically participated in 16 rounds. Teams in ninth to 24 will play in the knockout stage playoffs of the two-legged to reach the final 16 games.
The team ranked 25th or lower in the season withdrew from Europe in Europe.
