The Vancouver Canucks can still use some depth in the center
Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre: There is more motivation around the Vancouver Canucks than a few months ago. They re-signed Brock Boeser, expanded Conor Garland and Thatcher Demko, and brought Evander Kane.
They do need to add some depth in the middle, but can be patient. They may have to drive their salaries away to do this, with Dakota Joshua and Teddy Blueger as trade candidates. Joshua is an emerging power forward, while Blueger is a killing center. They need to be careful.

Montreal Canadians are now happy with their second-tier position
Jimmy Murphy of RG.org: Jeff Gorton, executive vice president of the Montreal Canadians for the Hockey Operation, said they were still looking for a 2C trade market, but they were willing to go into the camp without joining the camp because they thought they had some internal options to start this year. Gorton did add:
“We will still always look for and try to improve our team. A lot of people are talking about the center, but we have centers in the organization and we are happy with getting into the camp.
I mentioned before that we don’t look at it like the Open Days, because you can change the lineup. After that, there are a lot of teams in the league that add players and up to the deadline, so we are happy with our position and the actions we have made. ”
Defensive Mike Matheson has been in the rumor mill lately, but Gorton said Matheson is really good for them, with over 25 minutes per game in all cases. Lane Hutson spent PP1 time from Matheson, but they will see what the next step is. He has one year left in the deal.
