US Open 2025 Results: Alexandra Eala opens history in the U.S. with a win over Clara Tauson – and “have more moods”

Eala won the U.S. Open junior championship in 2022, becoming the first Filipino to win a Grand Slam singles trophy.

She defeated former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, to dominate Australian Open champion Madison Keys and former world No. 1 Iga Swiatek on her first four games on her way to Miami.

As a result, she became the first Filipino woman to break into the top 100 in the world.

She keeps a firm attitude towards Tauson, a big hitter who can serve, and the 14th seed makes her frustration boil in the critical moment of the third set.

After Eala and Tauson led 5-4 in the decision-makers, Dane complained that her opponent hit the ball before crossing the net.

She was booed by the crowd when she argued with referee Kader Nouni.

“It’s too difficult,” Erra said.

“she [Tauson] It’s a huge player – definitely not the simple appeal of the first round, but I’m glad to dig deeper.

“I thought at the time I had to push the limit physically and mentally.”

Next, Eala will face 95 Cristina Bucsa from Spain, or next to Claire Liu from the United States.
