US Open 2025: President Donald Trump enters New York men’s singles final

President Donald Trump will compete in the U.S. Open men’s singles final on Sunday, which will be his first visit to the Grand Slam tennis game since 2015.

Trump, who was re-elected in the second semester in 2024, has not participated in the New York City Championship since he first took office in 2016.

He had visited the meadows in Flushing several times before, and his wife Melania’s last visit ten years ago.

A White House official confirmed to the BBC that the president is expected to attend.

In 2015, Trump’s six-time major champion John McEnroe greeted Trump.

Trump, 79, was born in Queens, New York City, where he held a Grand Slam Championship.

No American player will be in the men’s final, which starts at 14:00 (19:00 BST) on Sunday.

The finalists will be decided by Friday’s final four matches, when Serbia’s Novak Djokovic plays Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, followed by Italy’s Felix Auger-Aliassime’s Jannik Sinner.
