US Open 2025: Jodie Burrage beats Patrica Maria Tig in the first round

Britain’s Jodie Burrage started bidding to reach the main level of the U.S. Open, losing only four games.
Burrage, 26, won eight consecutive games, defeating Romania’s Patricia Maria Tig 6-4 6-0 in the first round of the New York qualifying match.
Next, we will face the 18th seed, Arantxa Rus, with a world number of 149, and the bid is to enter the US Open.
Billy Harris added the cave in the second round, who countered against the Japanese James Kent Trotter 3-6 6-1 6-2, but Johnnus lost 7-5 6-3 to 7-5 6-3 in France’s Harold Mayot on Monday.
Dan Evans and Jay Clarke will also start their campaign on Monday at Flushing Meadows.
Players must win three games in the qualifying match to advance to the pre-summer tournament’s main singles match, which will begin on Sunday.
Jack Draper, Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley went straight into the men’s singles, Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal in the women.
