US Open 2025: Emma Raducanu teams up with former Rafael Nadal coach Francis Roig

Emma Raducanu said she was “excited” to prepare for this year’s U.S. Open, working with Rafael Nadal’s former coach Francis Roig.

The 22-year-old has been informally working with British coach Mark Petchey since March and now adds Espanyol’s Roig full-time.

Roig, 57, worked with Uncle Nadal from 2005 to 2022 and was part of all Espanyol’s Grand Slams.

“He obviously has a lot of experience and I’m very happy to continue working with him and put him on my side,” Rakanu told Sky Sports.

Britain’s No. 1 match has played at the Cincinnati Open for the first time since 2022 and will face British Briton Katie Boulter or Serb Olga Danilovic at the opening ceremony after accepting his first round goodbye.

Roig joined Raducanu for the WTA 1,000 event in Ohio State, the last game ahead of the final Grand Slam of the season, starting in New York on August 24.

“It’s really good,” Rakanu said. “This is my second day [Roig] Here, but I did it in London for a few days before I came here. ”
