US Open 2025: Elena Rybakina

Speaking at the Australian Open in January, Rybakina said she had never filed “any complaint” against Vukov, adding: “In the sense of relationship with Stefano, I don’t agree with a lot of what the WTA does.”

Vukov challenged the WTA’s decision to issue a suspension and was canceled after a hearing before an independent court.

Following the appeal, the WTA told BBC Sport that it was “fully committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all athletes and other participants.”

The governing body added: “While case details remain confidential, we can confirm that Mr. Vukov is eligible for certificates at the WTA event. We will not comment further.”

With Vukov back in her corner, Rybakina made her first entry into the U.S. round four for the first time in her career after an impressive defeat of Britain’s Emma Raducanu on Friday.

Rybakina said she felt happier and healthier after overcoming her insomnia, a sleep disorder she has troubled her over the past two years.

The problem caused her immune system to rupture, and she decided to take a long break on the WTA Tour that ended last season.

Before her 2024 U.S. Open second round, Rybakina didn’t play again until November.

She added: “It’s much better now, I have no problems, so I’m very happy.”

“I think we’re managing and getting closer to where I want to be, and I think it’s a good job too. Of course, there’s not much time between games, but overall, I’m happy with the way I work now.

“Things in the box will definitely help, and I think it’s important when the entire team can support you.”
