UConn Basketball Land Four-Star Recruitment Junior County

Senior guard junior county in 2026 told ESPN’s Jeff Borzello and Paul Biancardi on Thursday that he has committed to UConn. The county chose the Husky, not Arizona, Indiana, Maryland and Purdue.

Junior County wants to play for UConn coach Dan Hurley

After visiting every other finalist, the county went to UConn for one last trip last weekend.

“This is what I feel when I watch the practice, and talk to it [coach Dan] Hurley and the campus are walking around,” the county told ESPN Thursday. I believe I was able to develop into the best version when I was there.”

The coaching style of Borzello and Biancardi’s Hurley led to the county’s commitment.

“We have a great relationship and I love that intensity,” the county said. “I think that’s why he gets the best performance from his players every day. I think I’m going to be able to win at both ends of the floor. They see that I’m able to make those win games on the ball and on the ball.”

County is a 6-foot-4 combination guard who once played for Wasatch Academy (Utah), ranked 43rd in the SC’s 100 and fourth-place shooting guard. Utah natives were also listed as the 29th recruit in the country by 247Sports.

The county’s father is David Benedict’s football teammate

He played with Utah’s prospects at the Nike Eybl track this year, and he averaged 13.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while the young outstanding figure had a one-to-one 20 points.

Dedication to UConn is an interesting move for the county.

County’s father Adolph gained defense at the University of Utah in the early 1990s. Prior to that, he played in Southern Utah, where he was a teammate of guard David Benedict.

Of course, Benedict is now the athletic director at UConn.

The county is Hurley’s top commitment in the 2026 class, after finishing the top five in the 2025 class, with the group having two top 25 recruits in Braylon Mullins and Eric Reibe.

UConn will open the 2025-26 season on November 3 against New Haven.
