NHL Rumors: Flyers linked to Canucks, Oilers & Skinner, Broberg signed – Hockey Writer – Philadelphia Flyers

In today’s NHL Rumor Digest, are the Philadelphia Flyers a team that could target players outside of Vancouver? There is an obvious connection between the coach and some of his former players. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers have denied any reports that they are willing to move Stuart Skinner without a clear upgrade. Finally, the St. Louis Blues received unfortunate injury news on Monday as the team works to re-sign defenseman Filip Broberg. How much might his next deal be worth?
Does Tocchet have his eye on certain Canucks players?
Philadelphia is reportedly looking for a center via trade. Interestingly, Vancouver has a player that Flyers coach Rick Tocchet likes. NHL insider Elliott Friedman has been told to keep an eye on Philadelphia when it comes to Vancouver players.
As for who Tocchet might look at, it’s unclear. Frank Seravalli has linked the Flyers to Quinn Hughes if he becomes available, but a more likely name could be Keifer Sherwood or even Elias Pettersson.
Oilers push back on Skinner trade claims
Friedman also corrected previous reports in his latest episode 32 ideas podcast, he said he was told the Edmonton Oilers would not move laterally.
He explained that the Oilers could still make a move before the end of the season. He pointed out:
“I just think they disagree with our assumptions, Kyle… Some people have said to me that they wouldn’t be surprised if Edmonton doesn’t make any goals or big decisions by the end of the year. They get through the year and then make big decisions based on how everything goes. And, I’ll tell you, I have a Some teams have said to me that they don’t believe that’s true and they think Edmonton is going to continue to look and if something comes up that they like, they’re going to do it and they’re not going to just bet on this season or say we can’t do that right now, but they do agree that their position hasn’t changed and it’s not a lateral move.”

He added that the Oilers decided that with their limited assets it didn’t make any sense for them and they wouldn’t do it.
Blues lose Snagrud and Tolopchenko in attempt to sign Broberg
The St. Louis Blues released a statement Monday noting forward Jimmy Snagrud will miss at least six weeks. The team announced that the 21-year-old injured his left wrist and required surgery.
In addition to Snagrud’s surgery, the Blues also announced forward Alexey Tolopchenko will miss week-to-week action after suffering burns to his leg in a domestic incident.
There are also reports that the Blues have yet to begin contract negotiations with defender Philipp Broberg. They’re keen to sign him, but in no rush. Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic writes:
“The Athletic projects an AAV of $6.7 million, but based on Broberg’s performance so far, his next contract is likely to be an eight-year, $64 million ($8 million AAV) extension, or more. If not signed by then, he will become a restricted free agent on July 1.”
