Multiple teams are interested in DJ Lemahieu

It has been two days since the Yankees officially released senior infielder DJ Lemahieubut that didn’t stop him from trying to return to the fields. Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported earlier today that Lemahieu hopes to sign with a team to end the 2025 season and subsequently reported that multiple teams have shown interest in veterans’ services. There is no indication that the agreement has been completed at this time, and it is not clear whether this interest is interested in adding Lemahieu to a major league deal or a minor league agreement, but Morosi added that Lemahieu can help him while searching for new clubs before the serious choice of the trade season.
It’s only one day before his 37th birthday, and if there is no interest this year, Lemahieu’s number is available. He cut .266/.338/.336 (94 WRC+), and its base metric will match 142 of 142 games in 45 games before his DFA this year while also taking the exclusive second base. His game value this season is 0, above-1 above average -1, indicating that his defense at Keystone is below average in his career, although that’s far from the defense of the Gold Glove movement of his youth. Still, the combination with average offense and defense is slightly below average enough to make him an attractive candidate for a part-time or substitute role for a team that needs help in the infield.
If Lemahieu can provide substantial versatility, he will be more attractive as a role player for a competitive club, but there are questions about his ability to handle third base in his career. As MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch pointed out after the Yankees decided to part ways with veterans, Lemahieu expressed concern over his ability to handle physical needs at third base in the past offseason and expressed a preference to stay on the right side of the infield in 2025. Base and DH, which may indicate that his concerns about his ability to play hot roles remain.
Given that Lemahieu has suffered a major injury in recent years, it would be understandable if he wasn’t the other side, the manager Aaron Boone Telling reporters (including Hodge) that if Yankees ask him to return to the position, Lemahiu expressed his willingness to resume workouts at third base. If Lemahieu can prove that he has the ability to handle third base, it will certainly help his market. Players on teams like the Cubs and Reds are currently ingrained in second base, but available in popular corners. If Lemahieu is able to handle occasional time on third base, but if he is limited to the right side of the infield, he will certainly interest him.
Even if Lemahieu still can’t handle the hot corner, there should still be several teams that can benefit from his service. Royals are currently relying on Nick Loftin Based on the Keystone semi-rules Luis Rengifo After a tough first half in the first half, it could benefit from someone to help him take the load on the second Angels, making him one of the least qualified batsmen in baseball this year. Astronauts, Giants and A are the few other clubs who have worked hard to produce in second base this year, but recently each club has installed new options that they can be more desirable than Lemahieu Bris Matthewswhile the temporary ball clubs in West Sacramento have just been welcomed Zack Gelof Back from the injured list and San Francisco did the same Casey Schmitt.
