Tottenham Hotspur has received support to take action for Castello Lukeba

Tottenham Hotspurs has joined the growing list of top European clubs, expressing interest in RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba, according to Footmercato.

Since joining Leipzig in Lyon, the French under-21 international team has quickly established itself as one of the most promising defenders of the Bundesliga.

His defensive maturity has allowed him to flourish in Germany, making more than 50 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions.

The Spurs hope to strengthen their defenders ahead of the busy 2025/26 campaign, Lukeba’s profile fits their vision, with their goal to increase youth and quality along with Mickey van der Denden and Christian Romero.

Tottenham explores opportunities to sign Castello Lukeba

Tottenham does not admire the French defender alone. TP European club is also monitoring Lukeba’s situation, and Leipzig is understood to have been in a strong negotiating position due to the players’ long-term contracts, which lasts until 2029.

Revered Spurs journalist Matt Burns explains why North London clubs need defenders like Lukeba.

Burns stressed that Lukeba is better at duels than current Spurs defenders Van der Den and Romero.

With Romero moving with Madletico Madrid, signing Lukeba in this case became even more crucial to the Premier League side.

Despite question marks about player experience and lack of exposure at the highest level, the Bundesliga is still a very competitive league and he has performed well.

After winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League, the Spurs have the funds they can spend this summer and have had recent successes that can define their next few seasons.

Burns believes that Lukeba’s potential signing is effortless and if they don’t act quickly to sign the defender, another club will and pay his release clause, which is about 90 million euros (£76 million).

Premier League champion Liverpool is related to the move of the French defender.

The defender reportedly hopes to leave the Bundesliga this summer, and Thomas Frank’s promising project may be the right move for him.
