Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in signing Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi.
The 27-year-old Central defender will cancel his contract next summer and the Italian outfit may sell him to avoid losing him for free. According to a report by Gazzetta Dello Sport, the player is worth €28 million.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham Hotspur would propose to sign him. They will also face competition from Aston Villa. The West Midlands Club wants to improve its defensive force and keep it on the Colombian International.
Tottenham and Aston Villa can use Jhon Lucumi
South America has excellent physical and technical attributes in the Premier League, and he can prove that this is a great addition to both clubs. The reported asking price is very reasonable for his quality players. He is at the pinnacle of power and he can justify investment.
Tottenham may lose Cristian Romero this summer, and they need alternative qualities. South America may be ideal for World Cup champions. Meanwhile, Aston Villa looks vulnerable on defense and they need to tighten up behind. Whether they can beat him to sign remains to be seen.
The Premier League move may be tempting
Lucumi hopes to play regularly next season and if both clubs want to win the game for his signature, they will need to provide him with Gametime guarantees.
Both clubs have financial resources to pay him €28 million, which remains to be seen. At this stage of his career, the chances of entering the Premier League can be exciting. If the transfer passes, he will hope to test himself at the highest level.
The defender has also been linked to the transition to the Premier League in the past.
