The Seattle Flood host the New York Sirens on Wednesday, December 3, in their first game of the 2025-26 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. Although the Sirens held the lead for much of the game, the Rapids came back in the closing seconds to win 2-1.

Just three minutes into the first period, Kinsey Ross slid the puck over the backboard and into the net. She quickly passed the ball to Paetyn Levis in front of the net. When Hannah Murphy wasn’t looking at the puck, Levis fired in for the first goal of the night.

The Sirens had two scoring chances in the second quarter, but the Rapids held on to the penalty kick.

Game 3 was also filled with penalties, including a 4-on-3 opportunity that the Rapids failed to capitalize on. However, as the match came to a close, Kristina Kartunkova was ejected from the match for a major checking penalty on Anna Wilgren. The penalty kick was taken by Savannah Norcross in the final four minutes of the game. Wilgren returned to the bench, but she still looked shaky. Hope everything goes well for her.

With a minute and a half left in the game, Kayla Barnes passed the ball to Hannah Birka at the blue line. She shot, but Kyle Osborne made the initial save. Hilary Knight cleared the rebound to center ice where she found Alex Carpenter. She scored the Rapids’ first goal at home against her former club.

The Rapids won the initial faceoff after the goal and immediately got the puck into their own zone. Julia Gosling took the puck from Barnes, who passed it to Bilka. She shoots and Osborne saves again. Knight was right next to the net, firing the puck into the net while Osborne was on the ground trying to make the save. Knight secured the Rapids’ victory 22 seconds after the first goal.

Next step

The Sirens will begin the second part of their West Coast road trip when they take on the Vancouver Goldeneyes on Saturday, December 6. This game was Torrent’s final game before the US-Canada rivalry series took a break. They will return to the ice on Wednesday, December 17, when they host the Ottawa Charge.
